Analogue to Digital

We maintain all analogue and digital telecare protocols, giving our partners flexibility to choose when to become fully digital. This significantly reduces the risk of service disruption for our partners as they consider how to upgrade their estate.

Move to SIP Lines

We have been digitally enabled since 2018 and were pioneers in establishing a digital SIP trunk to handle alarms from Technology Enabled Care devices. Today we maintain all analogue and digital telecare protocols, giving our partners flexibility to choose when to become fully digital. This significantly

Digital call quality enabling our 24/7 call handlers to mobilise help quickly in an emergency.

Reduced risk of service disruption for our partners as they consider how to upgrade their estate.

Industry-leading telephony infrastructure handling 1 million calls per year.

Low-cost calls to familiar, local rate telephone numbers.

Maintenance of analogue provision

Interoperability in the Technology Enabled Care (TEC) sector is at the core of everything we do.

We believe no provider of TEC should be limited by compatibility issues between their chosen technology and their alarm receiving centre. As we approach the 2025 digital switch, it’s crucial that Housing Associations, Local Authorities and care providers have access to the very best technology and can safely integrate this with life-critical services like @Astraline.
In November 2021, we completed the upgrade of our analogue telephone lines to a digital SIP trunk, the culmination of three years of testing & development in partnership with our service users. We found that although the vast majority of alarm traffic could be handled effectively using SIP, some older telecare protocols like BS7369 and TTold could be unreliable.

“Recognising that our partners are at different stages of their digital journey, we maintain an analogue Lifeboat service for older telecare devices that are unable to communicate with digital lines.  This gives our partners additional time to make significant procurement decisions ahead of the digital switch and more importantly guarantees a continued life critical service.”

Move to Azure (cloud)

In 2008, Astraline was the first alarm receiving centre in the UK to adopt Enovation UMO, the leading call handling platform for telecare and telehealth. Fast forward to 2022 and we are one of only a handful of monitoring providers using completely cloud-hosted infrastructure. That is, all of our call handling, CRM and network infrastructure is hosted virtually and does not rely on physical installations.
Our partners benefit from:

• An alarm receiving centre with a hybrid working model, where call handlers can use our platform to work remotely after completing a full induction programme and meeting our data protection/security requirements

• A platform accredited to Cyber Essentials+ and ISO27001

• Azure multi-region IT infrastructure hosted in two separate UK data centres. This means should any part of the system fail, other parts from the alternate data centre automatically step in to keep the service running
