Since June 2020, Astraline has been working in partnership with the North West Ambulance Service to deliver a free Falls Prevention Service to hundreds of vulnerable people in the Cheshire East region.

Nicky Neild, Team Manager of Partnership and Health at Astraline, said: “I am incredibly proud of our local responder team and how quickly they respond to patients, at risk of falling, in the Cheshire East area. Once we receive an alert from the North West Ambulance Service, we arrange a home visit with the patient to discuss how a fall can be prevented. This service helps raise awareness about falls and empowers patients to take control of their own health and wellbeing.”

As part of this service, Astraline also conduct a risk assessment and, where appropriate, refer patients to their local GP, physiotherapist or community rehabilitation centre.

Nicky Neild explained: “This service can help reduce hospital admissions and gives patients the confidence to live independently in their own homes for longer. The Falls Prevention Service has been such a success that we now take referrals from GP’s, Cheshire East Fire and Rescue, and other charitable organisations. It is great to see that our teams are making such a difference to the local community.”
