Astraline and Johnnie Johnson Housing (JJH) were delighted to take part in this year’s Festival of Ideas – with Housing LIN.

From Monday, 27 February to Friday, 3 March 2023, the Housing LIN Summit – A Festival of Ideas returned for a week-long feast of inspiring conversations in a virtual format with leading figures from the housing and care industries sharing their ideas, innovation and inspiration.

Smart About Ageing – An Inclusion Revolution took place on Wednesday the 1st March at 2.30 pm and was Co-chaired by JJH’s CEO – Yvonne Castle – with insight from our very own Managing Director Joe McLoughlin.

This session explored how you can design, create, and build homes for the future. Drawing on international and UK examples, it focused on how simple, thoughtful design, and community-based co-production can create more inclusive homes that support people to live and age well in their own homes.

We were joined by:

There was a great line-up every day of the week with 2 sessions per day (one in the morning and another in the afternoon) showcasing the latest in thought-leadership, highlighting product and service innovations, as well as bringing cutting-edge research and practice development for the UK’s housing with care sector and beyond.

Event feedback:

  • A very good insight to how the problems and stigmas are being addressed.
  • Varied and informative – a good broad spectrum of contributors that really helped the discussion flourish.
  • Fabulous mix of exploration experience and real world outcome success!

If you missed it, the recordings of the 10 Summit sessions from can be viewed on the HLIN microsite. You can browse the programme for each day, select the session you are interested in watching, and/or click on the speakers’ names to view their presentation slides.
