As you get older, you may start to worry about your risk of falling, particularly during winter. This worry is not misplaced. One in three people fall each year and around half of people aged over 80. But there are steps you can take to reduce your risk.
Cheshire East Council (in conjunction with One You Cheshire East and Cheshire East Falls Prevention Group) has organised a falls awareness week this year from 15 November – 21 November 2021. As part of this, free taster falls prevention classes are being run by One You Cheshire East in Disley, Nantwich and Congleton. Additionally, free ‘Stand Strong’ One You Cheshire East classes are available at a wide range of locations across the Borough (subject to assessment). See the One You Cheshire East website to find out more.
Advice on how you reduce your risk of falling is available on the Cheshire East Council Live Well resource. This includes simple steps you can take like having your eyesight checked, checking your home for trip hazards and staying active.
